June Town Hall Meeting Notes 2024

Writing Contest Winner

Last week, we had the next iteration of the quarterly writing contest, hosted by Teli and Nick!

The Summer edition of our writing contest saw a lot submissions, each with very different ideas and stories. Some were poems, and some were stories! Every writing contest has no stipulations on what the participant can write, which leads to a lot of awesome variety!

This time around, Driver won the contest, receiving the Golden Skade Edda!
Every other entrant in the competition won the Silver Edda.

Upcoming Pride Event

Next week, at 3pm EST on the 15th of June, we are having our annual Pride Event!

Pride to Skade is a very important time of the year, but given that most of our members are in the LGBTQIA+ community, every day is pride for Skaders.
Pride Month is an extra special time for us to really celebrate this, and our Pride event is always a lot of fun for both LGBTQIA+ members, but also allies of the community, which Skade is full of!

There are always fun pack items, fun games and places to explore at our events, and Pride is no exception! Join us next week!

Upcoming Graduation Event

It’s graduation time! On the 29th, at 3pm EST we are having our annual Graduation event!

Graduation happens around the world every year. Many of our Skaders are in some form of education, and some of those Skaders are finishing up with their education, or school years! While not every culture has a “Graduation,” Skade feels it’s important to give those hard working Skaders the spotlight and a chance to tell everyone what their plans are for the future, and get some recognition for the time they put into school.

This is a special edition, because for the first time ever, we are going to be incorporating the yearbook into our Skade Graduation event! You’ll be able to view the yearbook in minecraft, and even sign each others yearbooks, just like in High School!

If you have graduated from or completed any form of education from last year, after Summer 2023, please fill out the form given to you by Rylee in Skade Talk! This will ensure that you are included in graduation. It will ask you what form of education you have completed, helping the event team set up the area!

Even if you have not graduated anything, the event will be a lot of fun, and will be a great opportunity to support our friends. Don’t miss it!

1.20.4 Update

Our Valhalla and Midgard servers will be updating to 1.20.4 on June 22nd, at around 4pm EST.

For those wondering why it took some time for us to update, it’s important to remember that while Minecraft updated long ago, the plugins take a lot longer to be adapted to the new versions of Minecraft. A lot of Plugins that are so crucial to Skade needed to be updated, which takes time!

Thank you guys for your patience, and we’re looking forward to being updated!

Breaking Chaos 3

Look out! The third instalment of the highly acclaimed Breaking Chaos series, hosted by Gustav is releasing later this Summer. Stay tuned for more updates, and keep any eye out for a ping when the time comes to sign up!

Breaking competitions are a really fun aspect of our events, and Gustav worked hard to evolve this idea into something bigger that could last us an entire hour!
If you’ve never played the previous Breaking Chaos competitions, do not be discouraged! Breaking Chaos is for everyone, and you will have a lot of fun participating.

Art Show 2024

Our Art Show is returning for 2024! Last year you guys submitted some awesome artwork, and it was put on display in a building on Midgard. Stay tuned for an announcement on this when it is coming out!

This announcement is just to confirm it will be returning, and gives you guys some time to start brewing some ideas of what to submit!

Asgard Feedback Form

Soon, n1n will be releasing an Asgard Feedback Form!

Asgard 2.0 has been on Skade for nearly 6 months now, so we want to make sure the experience is as fun and as fresh as it was when we first opened it.
If you find the form has too many questions, you will be able to skip several of the questions, and just fill out the most important questions we need feedback on!

Coming Out

This month is Pride Month. A lot of us finally take that very big and scary step of coming out during the month of Pride, and this is something Skade takes very seriously.

In the upcoming monthly newsletter that the Scribe Team releases, Obby and Blue are going to be working together to write about YOUR coming out story!

Please reach out to them if you are interested in them writing about you. If you wish to stay anonymous, that is also totally OK. Obby and Blue are both in the LGBTQIA+ community, and understand the difficulty of coming out, and how important it is to be respectful. They will ask you questions on coming out in the most comfortable way possible.

Website Updates and Media Team

Jake, our Media Team lead, and Skade Website developer had some really exciting stuff to announce!

Firstly, Jake announced that the Media Team are releasing the Pride Catwalk for our Social Medias like last year! Look out for a sign up post to get involved!

Second, Jake talked about some really exciting website updates

Your submissions for the writing contests that are brought to you by Teli and Nick are going to be posted on the website! This is another great way to view all the submissions, in a more centralised location. If you want your submissions removed at ANY point, just reach out to Jake and he can easily take them out!

Next, in celebration of Pride Month, Jake updated the website to include Pride Flags that decorate the Skade Gaming logo! If you hover your mouse over the logos, it will tell you which flags they are!

Finally, Jake is working very hard to add something to our website that you guys have requested for a long time. He is still working on it, but in the future, we will have something very exciting added to our website which will function really well and really complete our website!

Skade Pokemon D&D

SupahJMan is working hard to bring to you guys a Skade Gaming Dungeons and Dragons campaign, with a Pokemon Theme!
If you love D&D, or Pokemon, or both.. Or neither, this game will be a lot of fun!

This time around, Supah is using a really great system, that will make it so easy to sign up and join in. He is currently working with each of the players who have taken an interest to help them create a character sheet and explain to them how it’s going to work!

Hopefully by next Town Hall, we will have a rough idea on when he will be starting the campaign, so we can get started and return to Skade D&D!

Also, Evan still plans to release a Starfinder campaign in the future. Keep an eye out for when that starts being planned and set up!
